For the past 15 years, we have committed ourselves to meeting the needs of the homeless by holding a community celebration event every November called ALIVE. This event brings together the homeless as they celebrate life, listen to live music, play games, receive an abundance of warm winter clothes and prizes, as well as enjoy a delicious hot meal. Over the years, we have seen this event increase in popularity as many of the homeless are shown dignity and respect, simply by being treated like ‘normal’ people. It is also a great opportunity for homeless families to enjoy time together without worrying about the public’s opinion of them. Last year’s event we saw over 400 people come out and enjoy the day. With the economy in the state that it is in, we have seen more homeless on the streets and expect around 600 people this year.
It will take over 250 volunteers and 800 bags of clothing to pull off ALIVE this year. If you are signed up to volunteer, check out our Volunteer Details Information. Below is the schedule for the day.
